About
There is a long and dynamic history of research in the Lhù’ààn Mân (Kluane Lake) region. However, research processes and outputs (particularly natural science and climate change research) have largely been driven by interests originating outside the local community and remain inaccessible to local residents.
Bringing Research Home (BRH) is a collaborative project driven by the interests and needs of Kluane First Nation (KFN) to address exclusion from research in its Traditional Territory.
The main goals of BRH
The goal of BRH is to understand and enhance KFN’s ability to participate in and lead research within its Traditional Territory. We are doing this by:
- Compiling historical and existing climate change research conducted in the Lhù’ààn Mân region.
- Developing tools to make research more accessible to community members.
- Developing expectations for researchers, based on KFN knowledge and values.
This website
This website was developed by the BRH project and includes:
- A story map created by KFN youth that introduces KFN people and land.
- An interactive map displaying historical and contemporary climate change research in the Lhù’ààn Mân region.
- Community-identified expectations of researchers.
- A story map exploring the history of research in the Lhù’ààn Mân region, highlighting KFN led projects.
The website serves as a resource for both community members and researchers.
